14-Day Glucose Monitoring
Why wait for a diagnosis of pre-diabetes or diabetes (the most commonly diagnosed metabolic health condition) when you can wear a monitor to see the effects your diet and lifestyle are having on your blood sugar and current metabolic health?
Blood sugar instability underpins hormonal problems, low energy, weight gain, thyroid problems and paves the way for metabolic diseases.
Understanding your glucose patterns empowers you to make the changes needed to decrease your risk.
Continuous Glucose Monitors (CGM’s) are now widely used by non-symptomatic or otherwise healthy people to optimise their health because knowing how your body is handling dietary glucose and understanding the effect diet, lifestyle, stress, and sleep have on glucose levels in the body provides a valuable insight into your current metabolic health giving you the chance to make diet and lifestyle changes before they cause metabolic diseases such as type-2 diabetes.
The complex relationship between insulin, stress hormones, reproductive hormones, thyroid hormones, and liver health explains why persistently elevated blood sugar sits behind many common health complaints including:
Hormonal conditions including heavy periods, PCOS, acne, migraines, hirsutism, fertility difficulties.
Worse than normal peri-menopause or menopause symptoms.
Low energy or energy highs and slumps.
Weight gain or difficulty losing weight.
Cravings or needing to eat every couple of hours.
Important booking information:
Please use the 'Book' button below, this will open an email. In the email please state your preferred date(s)/time(s) for your results session which needs to be at least 6 weeks from the the time payment and a short intake form have been completed. This will provide sufficient time for the CGM to be sent to you, to install and setup the application and CGM (I will help/support you in doing this), and for you to wear the monitor for 15 days. I recommend you wear your monitor at a time when your routine is relatively normal so avoid holidays or periods of time when you know you aren't going to be able to have your normal routine and diet.
My HbA1c (blood test) results indicate I’m not diabetic so why would I need a CGM?
A blood test measures the glucose in your blood at the time the blood was taken and whilst this is used by your GP to determine your type-2 diabetes status, it won’t tell you the effect those every day decisions or events are having on glucose levels, how quickly your body is clearing glucose from your blood, and your risk of developing metabolic syndrome in the future.
The rate at which glucose is being cleared from your blood and into your cells tells you how sensitive your cells are to insulin.
Greater insulin sensitivity or a speedy transfer of glucose from blood to cells indicates better metabolic health.
Remember it is easier (and easy) to prevent metabolic diseases than it is to reverse them.

How does it work?
You wear the CGM monitor on the back of one of your upper arms for 14 days. It’s easy to attach and there’s no blood!
A CGM monitor’s glucose levels in your interstitial fluid which lags around 10 minutes behind when glucose reaches the blood.
You download an app to your phone, enable Bluetooth, and scan the monitor on your arm using your phone to pair the devices.
For the next 14 days the monitor will update readings to the app on your phone. You don’t need your phone to be constantly on or near you, the monitor will store the data and synch it to your phone when the phone comes back into range or you can manually scan the monitor using the app to transfer the data.
The monitor copes with bathing and showering, exercises including arm weight exercising and yoga arm stands, and up to 30 minutes swimming.
Each day you make a note in the app of what you ate and drank throughout each day, any exercise taken, and other significant events that happened such as a stressful situation, late night, long journey, terrible night sleep, or illness.
What happens after 14 days?
After 14-15 days the app on your phone will tell you the monitor has stopped working and can be removed.
Your glucose data will be available for me to assess and discuss with you during the consultation.
After your consultation I will provide you with personal dietary and lifestyle advice for keeping blood sugar stable.
